It doesn’t matter if it’s winter or summer; getting everything done before candle lighting is always a race against the clock, which is why it’s always important to have quick and easy side dish recipes at the ready. All of these sides and salads can be either ready for serving or ready to throw in the oven in 18 minutes or less. Now you can impress with your food and your time management skills!

However, you can add whatever root vegetables you’d like, i.e., turnip, parsnip, etc. Feel free to experiment.

I used fresh cauliflower for this recipe, and cut the florets sideways into small trees, making a pretty side dish. Frozen works well, too, though. Don’t be afraid of the interesting spices — the flavor is mellow and not overpowering.
