Slice of life by: Eileen Goltz.

The big hamentashen debate comes into play when Purim rolls around. It can split families right down the middle. Just like the one that separates the floater lovers from the sinker lovers when it comes to matzo balls. Simply put, when it comes to Hamentashen, which is more important, the dough or the filling? I always stand firmly in the dough group. You can ALWAYS purchase the kinds of filling you want if you don’t have the time or inclination to make it, but the dough is what sets a great hamentashen apart from a merely good one. There are 2 basic kinds of dough, the yeast and the cookie. Both great, both delicious and the following recipes will give you lots of ammunition against those who disagree with your obvious good taste.
