Welcome to our weekly lifestyle column, No Measuring Allowed. Every week we share fun and easy Shabbat desserts, and savory dishes, too. The recipes don’t require any measuring or special equipment, and call for about 6 ingredients! Perfect for busy moms and dads, or kids who love to help in the kitchen!
Challah Cinnamon Buns
challah dough, enough for approx. 2 medium-sized challahs
1 cup light brown sugar
1/3 cup flour
1 tablespoon sugar
1 tablespoon cinnamon
1 stick (1/2 cup) margarine
1 cup confectioner's sugar
1/2 to 1 tablespoon water
1. Mix all filling ingredients together to form a paste.
2. Roll out dough into a large rectangle, smear with filling, and roll up jelly-roll style. Cut into thin slices.
3. Bake sliced side up on a rimmed cookie sheet, leaving room for cinnamon buns to grow. Bake at 350 degrees Fahrenheit about 20 minutes until lightly browned. Don’t over-bake!
4. Mix glaze and pour over buns.
