For a lot of us, cooking is soothing and helps us unwind. But when it’s a beautiful summer Friday and all you want to do is sit outside with a refreshing drink and watch the kids soak up the sun, Shabbat cooking can feel like a tedious task.

To make it more enjoyable, fun, and relaxing, our staff has come together to bring you a list of our favorite Friday cooking day playlists. Whether you’re into upbeat or soothing music or want to learn from an informative podcast, these recommendations will get you through the dicing and kneading with ease.

What is your Shabbat cooking day playlist?

Naomi Nachman (Sunny Side Up):

I listen to my Nachum Segal radio show, “Table For Two with Naomi Nachman on the Nachum Segal Network.”

Rorie Weisberg (Living Full ’n Free):

I love to listen to Yaffa Palty’s talks on Fridays when I’m cooking. I love everything she says. I also love to listen to a playlist my son made with lots of slow niggunim — with lots of Yehuda Green.

Esty Wolbe (Easy Does It):

Shabbos Juice by L’Chaim OG

Shani Seidman (CMO at Kayco Kosher Foods):

Ishai Ribo. And when I am cooking with the kids, either 8th day or Mordechai Shapiro.

Chanie Nayman (Kosherdotcom Editor-in-Chief):

I love listening to Rabbi Bensouson’s podcast called Two Cents. They started relatively recently, but I feel like they are giving over life truths in such a fun, conversational way. I’m always laughing along with them.

Michal Frischman (Chief of Staff):

Sibat Hasibot and Comme Les Oiseaux by Ishai Ribo. I love all his music, it’s so soothing. My six-year-old calls Sibat Hasibot “that catchy song,” which really just confirms it.

Leah Gottheim (Kosherdotcom VP):

I put on a Simcha Leiner or Benny Friedman playlist on YouTube Music. Mordechai Shapiro has a lot of energy. I also like to listen to podcasts while I’m folding laundry.

Raquel Malul (Kosherdotcom Marketing Assistant):

I have a playlist of Israeli music that I like to listen to, mostly upbeat and high energy songs. Or I’ll listen to a parsha shiur by Rabbi Wallerstein.

Renee Schwartz (Kosherdotcom Recipe Editor):

Chanale. Or if my husband’s around, Benny Friedman.

Nechama Fink (Kosherdotcom Back End Management Assistant):

When my kids are around, I like to put on music with a beat, a positive feeling, and some inspiring words. Any Benny Friedman, Mordechai Shapiro or 8th Day song fits this category. For more calm background music I google “Half Asleep Music.”
