Shabbat Menu- It’s Sweater Weather

Fall weather is officially here and I recently saw a meme that explained the weather perfectly: “We asked for fall weather, not freezing the first two hours of the day, perfect the next three, too hot the next two, and then freezing again!”

This is why we called this Shabbat menu “sweater weather.” It’s not too cold out that you need a full jacket but it’s cool enough for a sweater. We chose dishes that are warm and comforting. Perfect for a cozy Shabbat meal.

Crockpot Onion and Flanken Soup by Naomi Nachman

Crockpot Onion and Flanken Soup

Who doesn’t love a big bowl of onion soup? However, making it can be time-consuming, as you have to sauté the onions for a long time while stirring them. This recipe allows you to skip the sautéing, as your crockpot does all the work for you.

Quick One-Pot Chicken and Rice by Renee Muller

Here’s another favorite that takes only five minutes to assemble. The best part is when the rice gets soft and mushy and absorbs all that great chicken flavor.

Roasted Ratatouille Pasta from the Dining In Cookbook

This is a great way to incorporate a carb and a veggie in one dish! It’s easy and requires one less pot to clean!

Chocolate Lava Cake by Faigy Grossmann

Chocolate lava cake is the perfect dessert whether you only have 20 minutes until Shabbat or you’re preparing a month in advance. It takes under 20 minutes to make, uses basic ingredients, and looks like restaurant fare when plated just right.
