2. Mix first seven ingredients in a large bowl. Melt margarine with honey in a small, heavy saucepan over low heat. Pour over granola mixture and toss well.
3. Spread mixture on baking sheet. Bake 20 minutes, stirring occasionally. Add dates; mix to separate clumps. Continue baking until granola is golden brown, stirring frequently, about 15 minutes longer.
4. Cool completely and store in airtight container.
