From Mom
2 sticks of margarine
1 cup of boiling water
1 cup of sugar
1 tsp salt
4 eggs
2 packages powder yeast (Fleishmans) – 2 packages is 3 tsp
6-7 cups of flour
Mixture:
2 tbsp vanilla sugar
2 tsp cinnamon
1 1/2 cups sugar
1 cup ground nuts (optional – I never did this part)
1. Dissolve yeast in 1/4 cup warm water (separate from the cheshbon). Put in a drop of sugar.
2. Mix margarine, 4 cups flour, water, sugar, salt.
3. Mix in yeast
4. Mix in eggs
5. Mix in the rest of the flour until not sticky
6. Let rise 1 – 1 1/2 hours. Punch and let rise again.
7. Split dough into 3 parts
8. Flatten/roll dough with rolling pin. Spread oil. Spread mixture (recipe to follow). Roll dough. Cut into slices. Put on baking sheet.
Bake 350 for about 12-15 minutes. But I don’t really remember so check to see if it’s ready.
You can also dissolve confectioners sugar into a little bit of hot water and drizzle it on as a glaze after the cinnamon buns are baked and cooled.
