3/4 c vegetable broth
1/4 t black pepper
1/2 t salt
soy sauce (1 T for gravy)
1/2 c non-dairy milk
1 T oil
1 egg
1 onion
1 t vinegar
dried thyme (1/2 t for gravy; 1/2 t for breading)
1 clove minced garlic
pinch of sugar
1/3 c breadcrumbs
flour (1 1/2 T for gravy; 2 T for batter; 1/3 c for breading)
1/2 t paprika
oil, for frying
sliced tofu
Put oil, sliced onion, thyme,and sugar in a pan on medium heat. Stir occasionally. Let it simmer for approximately 30 minutes.
Stir in flour to form a paste, coating onions. Slowly stir in broth and soy sauce.
Mix ingredients.
Let it sit for approximately 10 minutes to thicken.
Mix breading ingredients in separate bowl.
Coat tofu in batter, breading and then fry. Pour gravy over tofu. *Serve with a side of green beans.
