Chanuka is not Chanuka without donuts fried in oil. But no one wants to spend lots of time on a complicated donut recipe when they would rather be spending time with their families, watching the menorah. This donut recipe is classic, so easy to make (they only need to rise for 45 minutes!) and come out looking perfect every time.
5 cups Glicks Flour
1 ounce yeast
2 tablespoons sugar
pinch of salt
3 ounces margarine
3 egg yolks
1 and 3/4 cups water or juice
Dissolve yeast in water or juice, then combine the rest of the ingredients. Knead dough until smooth. Let rise 30 minutes.
Place dough on a well floured board. Form into one and half inch balls and let rise another 15 minutes.
Heat two and half inches oil in a deep skillet. Deep fry in hot oil, turning once, until golden in color. Drain on absorbent paper.
Dust liberally with confectioners sugar.

looks good!
Delicious! I made half the recipe because we are a small crowd and it came out great. Consistency was a little too sticky so I added a drop of extra flour. I put in the whole amount of sugar . Really easy too!
Great These were fantastic! Made them filled with custard and chocolate glaze. And donut holes coated in confectioners sugar. Both delicious!
Fluffy dough. Not sweet Dough Rises nicely and the donuts cook nicely but it has very little sugar so the donuts are not sweet. Needed a lot of icing and/ or jelly
Thanks for the tip!
