Oatmeal Apple Cherry Kugel


This is a great side dish for Friday night. It can be prepared on Thursday, refrigerated overnight, and baked fresh Friday afternoon. Tastes great hot, warm, or cold.


For the Crumbs

1. Mix flour, oats, and cinnamon in a large mixing bowl.
2. Melt margarine and brown sugar together in the microwave and add to the flour-oat mixture.
3. Press half of this “dough” in an even layer into the bottom of a nine- by 13-inch pan.
4. Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.

Assemble and Bake

1. Layer sliced apples over the “dough.”
2. Pour cherry pie filling over apples.
3. Crumble remaining “dough” mixture on top.
4. Bake, uncovered, at 350 degrees for 45 minutes.


Can be frozen raw and thawed before baking.
