Here is a great twist on a good old classic. The dash of hot sauce intensifies the wonderful flavor without adding too much heat.
Split Pea Soup

Make the Soup
In a six-quart pot, sauté the onions and garlic in olive oil over a medium flame for 10 minutes.
Add in remaining ingredients. Bring to a boil.
Lower flame to a simmer for 45 minutes to an hour, until the split peas are tender. Stir occasionally so the peas don’t stick to the bottom of the pot.
