These ridiculously adorable honey dishes are actually surprisingly easy to make! Kids will go crazy from them, plus! They can get to work on making one mini honey dish for each person at the table. Nothing like a win, win during this busy time!

Watch how Esty makes these dishes on Easy Does It!

You will need:

apples (one for each “honey dish” you would like to make)
4 cups water
2 teaspoons kosher salt
2-ounce plastic shot glasses (as many as you want to make)
melon baller
wooden honey sticks
honey, for serving

Step 1.

Choose fairly rounded apples, not ones that stand lopsided.

Step 2.
In a large bowl, combine 4 cups water and 2 teaspoons kosher salt. Whisk to dissolve and set aside.

Step 3.
Neatly slice off the top of each apple horizontally, approximately a half an inch off the tip. Invert a shot glass and press it into the center of the base of the apple to create a guide. Use a melon baller to scoop out the apple core and flesh to accommodate the shot glass.

Step 4.
Dunk the prepared apples in the salt water for five minutes, then rinse and pat dry. This will keep them from turning brown.

Step 5.

Pierce the wooden honey stick into the center of the top so the handle pokes out like a stem.

Step 6.

Place the shot glasses into the hollowed-out apples, fill with honey and top with the apple tops. Store in the refrigerator until ready to use.

Enjoy!!

These came out great! We made one for every kid at our table on the first night and two generally for the adults to the share. The next day, we baked the apples and served them during the Simanim part of the festival meal. They were fantastic.
Some of us may have sprinkled the mini chocolate chips from the Apple Pops onto our baked apple and had chocolate honey apple.
