This is not just another apple bake. It takes the ordinary and makes it extraordinary.
1 cup flour
1/3 cup sugar
1 and 1/2 teaspoons Haddar Baking Powder
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 tablespoon vanilla sugar
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup parve milk
2 tablespoons oil
1/2 cup water
1/2 cup sugar
4 Granny Smith apples, peeled and diced
2 cups fresh or frozen cranberries
1 teaspoon lemon zest
Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit (180 degrees Celsius).
In a medium bowl, combine the first six ingredients. Stir in parve milk and oil.
Heat water and sugar in a small saucepan over medium-high heat. Stir until sugar is completely dissolved. Set aside.
Combine apples, cranberries, and lemon zest in a nine-inch (23-centimeter) square or round baking dish. Spread batter evenly over fruit. (The batter may not completely cover the fruit.) Pour sugar and water mixture over the batter.
Bake for one hour.
