5 and 1/2 cups flour
1 cup sugar
1 tablespoon vanilla sugar
3 and 1/2 sticks margarine (or 1 and 3/4 cups oil)
2 eggs
different colored jams
confectioners’ sugar
Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
Knead all dough ingredients. Roll out dough onto parchment paper. With a round cookie cutter, cut large circle shapes. On half of dough circles, cut little Chanukah shaped holes with Chanukah cookie cutters.
Bake 10 minutes. Let cool.
Melt desired colors of jams in soup plates in microwave (or stovetop).
On some circles, smear desired flavor jam.
Sprinkle the circles that have cutouts of Chanukah shapes, with confectioners’ sugar.
Put the jam cookie together with confectioners’ sugar cookies like a sandwich cookie (see picture).
With other plain round circle cookies sprinkle confection sugar. Place a cookie cutter on top of confection sugar and pour in a little melted jam. Wait to harden about one to two minutes between each cookie. Once hard, just pick up cookie cutter and there you have a perfect jam Chanukah shape!
