You will love this recipe. I was looking for an apple crisp recipe that didn’t have ingredients which made me cringe. Instead, I modified a classic apple crisp recipe, using ingredients I chose and the results were better than I ever imagined. You will find this crisp sweet and delicious and won’t miss a thing from the classic recipe. Depending on your pie pan, ingredients in your pantry and personal preference, you may want to make slightly modify the recipe. This is totally fine! Have a great time modifying the recipe to your specific liking!
1 cup quick oats
1/2 cup Tuscanini White Spelt Flour
1/2 cup Heaven and Earth Coconut Sugar
2 tablespoons expellar pressed canola oil
1/2 to 1 teaspoon Gefen Cinnamon
6 to 8 apples
Peel apples and core. Cut into chunks. Place in a pie pan.
For the crunch: Mix all the remaining ingredients in a small bowl. Be careful with the oil as not enough will result in a dry crust and too much will result in a sticky mess. Gradually add the oil, mixing every little bit until you reach a dark, moist crunch. Not too dry and not too sticky. Sprinkle on top of the apples.
Place in a preheated oven at 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Bake 35 minutes then check. You are looking for the apples to be bubbly and soft. This can be in the oven for longer. It will probably need more time, even an hour is fine.
Can be served warm or room temperature; it is even delicious cold, right out of the fridge.
