What’s great about these savory pastries is that you can serve them as a side but they’d also work great as an appetizer. This is kind of the all-around-perfect recipe. Bonus? They’re super quick and easy to make. Yes, please.
2 bunches asparagus, ends trimmed
2 tablespoons Gefen Olive Oil
kosher salt
pepper
10 Gefen Puff Pastry Squares, thawed
10 slices pastrami
1 egg, beaten
honey, for drizzling
1 pinch Gefen Crushed Red Pepper Flakes, optional
Preheat the oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit. Line a baking sheet with Gefen Parchment Paper.
Toss together the asparagus, olive oil, salt, and pepper.
Place a folded slice of pastrami onto each puff pastry square and then add a handful of asparagus and wrap the pastrami around the asparagus. Take two corners of the pastry square and wrap up and over the asparagus to enclose. Transfer to the prepared baking sheet. Repeat with remaining squares.
Brush each pastry with egg. Transfer to the oven and bake 20 to 25 minutes or until golden brown.
Serve the pastries warm, drizzled with honey and crushed red pepper.
