Sesame chicken is definitely a favorite in our house, but I just can’t bring myself to make the fried version. My sister-in-law Tami introduced me to this quick, easy, unfried version. It met all my requirements for a family-friendly dish and was an instant hit. Double or triple it without standing over the fryer for hours.
2 pounds chicken cutlets, cubed
1/2 cup Shibolim White Whole Wheat Flour
1/2 cup Heaven & Earth Ketchup
1/2 cup vinegar
2/3 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup olive oil
2 tablespoons mustard
2 cloves garlic, crushed or 2 cubes Gefen Frozen Garlic
3 tablespoons sesame seeds, divided
Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Grease a baking sheet.
Place chicken cutlets in a resealable plastic bag. Add flour and shake to coat. Spread cutlets on prepared baking sheet.
In a small bowl, combine ketchup, vinegar, brown sugar, olive oil, mustard, garlic and two tablespoons sesame seeds. Pour over cutlets. Sprinkle with remaining sesame seeds.
Cover and bake for 30 minutes. Uncover and bake an additional 15 minutes.
