Ingredients

Spelt Challos

  • 3 ½ tbsp dry yeast

  • 1 cup sugar

  • 5 ½ cups warm water

  • 1 cup oil

  • 2 eggs. room temperature

  • 10 cups white spelt flour

  • 2 tbsp salt

  • 1 bag Shibolim whole spelt blend flour

Directions

Prepare the Spelt Challos

1.

Mix the water, yeast, sugar. Activate well.

2.

Then add: eggs, oil, 1 type of flour. Mix well till it forms a paste.

3.

Then add salt and the rest of the flour.

4.

Cover for a half hour, then mix for 1 minute. Set aside to rise.

5.

Braid and smear right away with egg wash. 3 yolks & 1 whole egg.

6.

Cover for an additional half hour to rise.

7.

Put into a cold oven and turn on to 350*.

8.

Bake 30 to 40 minutes.
