I don’t fancy veggie burgers. They usually lack flavor, texture, and appeal. That makes them an afterthought, a last resort (think Nine Days), or something to grab when a vegan friend comes to visit. Until I tried these new Beleaves Veggie Burgers. They definitely don’t lack flavor, if cooked right they don’t lack texture, and they are very much appealing. I was surprised and pleased because we are right in the middle of the Nine Days and they make for a delicious dinner.

I tried 5 cooking methods: Air Fryer, Oven, Betty Crocker, Grill, and Microwave. I’ll break them down and rate them so you can pick whichever one works best for you.

Air Fryer:
I preheated the air fryer to 400F. I lightly sprayed the veggie burger with cooking spray and air fried it for 9 to 10 minutes.
Results: The patty was cooked well throughout, with the edges getting nicely browned.
Rating: 8/10
Oven:
I drizzled the patties with olive oil and baked them on parchment paper at 400F for 9 to 10 minutes.
Results: the center was a touch soft with the edges yielding a crispy crust.
Rating: 7/10
Betty Crocker:
I preheated the Betty Crocker for a few minutes, placed the veggie burgers over parchment paper and drizzled with a bit of olive oil. Cooked them for 10 minutes, flipping once throughout.
Results: perfectly cooked with nicely browned edges
Rating: 9.5/10
Grill:
Preheated the grill on medium-high heat (about 400F) for a few minutes, sprayed the patties with cooking spray and grilled on one side for 8 minutes and 2 minutes on the other side.
Results: perfect grill lines, perfect texture, perfect crust
Rating: 10/10
Microwave:
I placed the patties on a piece of parchment paper and microwaved for 1 minute, flipped and microwaved for an additional 1 minute.
Results: the burger was limp and steamy, which wasn’t terribly but definitely not ideal
Rating: 4/10
All of the flavors were delicious, I’m particularly partial to the broccoli and cauliflower one and was pleasantly surprised by the loaded veggie one (the little nibblets of corn, peas, and carrots are so cute). Try them all, pick a cooking method, and have an incredible dinner. For the Nine Days and beyond!
