Take your basic apple turnover to the next level and achieve the most delicious and prettiest results.
3 large Cortland apples
4 tablespoons apricot jam, such as Tuscanini Apricot Fruit Spread
1 egg (for egg wash)
1 stick margarine
1/2 cup sugar
1 and 1/2 cups Glicks Flour
Preheat the oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit.
Peel the apples and cut them into thick slices crosswise.
Remove the core with a round cookie cutter.
Spread a layer of apricot jam on the apple slices.
Roll out the puff pastry and cut it into long strips (about one inch wide).
Wrap each apple ring with the pastry strips, overlapping them a little and stretching the pastry as needed.
Place the apple pastries on a lined baking sheet and brush with egg wash.
In a bowl, mix together the crumb ingredients and sprinkle generously over the apple pastries.
Bake for 20 minutes until puffy and golden on top.
Sprinkle with confectioner’s sugar while hot.
