The ultimate Chanukah comfort food!
8–10 medium potatoes, shredded
1/2 kilo pulled beef (see below)
2 teaspoons salt
1 teaspoon pepper
1 teaspoon garlic powder
2 eggs
1/2 cup flour (regular, GF, or your starch of choice)
oil, for frying
1 and 1/2 kilos brisket (I used 1/2 kilo for this recipe and saved the 1 kilo for other purposes)
1 can Gefen Tomato Sauce
3 tablespoons Tuscanini Tomato Paste
3 cloves garlic, crushed or 3 cubes Gefen Frozen Garlic
2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
2–3 tablespoons silan (such as Heaven & Earth Date Syrup) or honey
1 tablespoon Pereg Smoked Paprika
1 teaspoon cumin
1 teaspoon chili powder
1/2 teaspoon pepper
1/2 teaspoon salt
Cook the pulled beef ingredients in a crockpot on low for nine to 10 hours. Once cooled, pull the beef.
Combine shredded potatoes, pulled beef, eggs, spices, and flour in a bowl. Mix well.
Heat oil in a frying pan. Fry patties of the mixture until golden on both sides.
I topped mine with a quick mix of mayo, hot sauce, and parsley—but totally optional.
