Apple Cake (or Kugel)


A soft, light cake with grated apples and cinnamon. Can be served alongside the main course as a side dish, if you enjoy sweet sides.   Check out our complete collection of Rosh Hashanah recipes for mains, sides, soups, desserts, and more inspiration for the holiday.


Prepare the Cake

1. Mix ingredients for cake until batter is smooth. Pour half of batter into a 9 x 13-inch pan.
2. Combine apples with sugar and cinnamon. Spread three-fourths of apple filling over batter. Pour remaining half of batter over apples. Top with remaining apples.
3. Bake at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for one hour.
