Love apple pie? In this recipe, the American classic gets the heimishe treatment. Don’t forget to serve with a scoop of homemade ice cream!

Directions

Prepare the Pie

  1. Combine all ingredients for dough, knead until smooth.

  2. Divide in half. Roll out half to 1/4-inch thickness and place into 10- x 16-inch greased pan or cookie sheet.

  3. Sprinkle matzo meal over dough.

  4. Combine apples with remaining ingredients for filling.  Spread over matzo meal.

  5. Roll out second half of dough to 1/4-inch thickness. Place over apples.

  6. Prick dough with fork. Bake at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for one hour or until done.

Variations:

Two cans Gefen Cherry Pie Filling can be used instead of apples, or prepare half of apple filling and mix with one can pie filling.
