Ingredients

Dough

  • 1/2 pound shortening or margarine

  • 1/2 cup orange juice

  • OR 1 package ready pie dough

Filling

  • 2 tablespoons Yehuda Matzo Meal

  • 4 pounds Cortland or sour apples, peeled and thinly sliced

  • 1 cup sugar

Directions

Prepare the Pie

1.

Combine all ingredients for dough, knead until smooth.

2.

Divide in half. Roll out half to 1/4-inch thickness and place into 10- x 16-inch greased pan or cookie sheet.

3.

Sprinkle matzo meal over dough.

4.

Combine apples with remaining ingredients for filling.  Spread over matzo meal.

5.

Roll out second half of dough to 1/4-inch thickness. Place over apples.

6.

Prick dough with fork. Bake at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for one hour or until done.
