Roast turkey with a surprise ingredient.
1 turkey
1 liter ginger ale
1/4 cup chicken soup powder such as Lipton
onion powder
garlic powder
paprika
Remove giblets from turkey cavities. Rinse turkey inside and out in cold water. Pat dry.
Put on rack in deep roasting pan, and season heavily with onion powder, garlic powder and paprika. Roast uncovered at 325 degrees for half an hour.
Then sprinkle soup powder into bottom of pan (into drippings), and pour ginger ale over turkey (making sure the soup powder gets mixed into it in the pan). Continue to roast uncovered until turkey is almost done.
Remove turkey from oven, cool and carve. Skim and strain pan gravy. Return sliced turkey to gravy, and reheat (finishing cooking) in the gravy.
