This delicious twist on meat and orzo can be served as a main dish or appetizer. For an appetizer, keep the beef and orzo separate and plate them together before serving.
1 pound pepper steak
salt, to taste
garlic powder, to taste
3/4 cup cornstarch
oil, for frying
1/2 cup Manischewitz Honey
1/4 cup Glicks Soy Sauce
1 cube Gefen Frozen Garlic
1 tablespoon toasted sesame oil
1/8 cup water
toasted sesame seeds (optional)
1 bag Gefen Orzo, cooked according to package instructions
1 teaspoon Tuscanini Olive Oil
salt, to taste
black pepper, to taste
Lightly sprinkle the meat with salt and garlic powder, then coat in cornstarch. Let sit for 10 minutes.
In a large saucepan, heat one inch of oil. Recoat the meat with cornstarch and shake off the excess starch. Deep-fry on medium heat for two to three minutes, taking care not to overcrowd the pan. Remove from pan and drain the extra oil.
In the pan, mix sauce ingredients together and bring to a boil. Add the beef and mix until well combined.
In a bowl, combine orzo ingredients. Toss with the crispy beef.
Serve warm.
