This is an easy, inexpensive, quick and super-tasty dinner.
1 box linguine noodles
1 pound lean ground beef
4 cubes Gefen Frozen Ginger
6 cubes Gefen Frozen Garlic
1/2 cup low-sodium soy sauce
1/2 cup boiling water + 1/2 teaspoon beef broth powder OR 1/2 cup beef broth
1/2 cup light brown sugar or Heaven & Earth Coconut Sugar
6 tablespoons hoisin sauce
1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (use less for a less-spicy dish)
1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
4 green onions, cleaned and diced
toasted sesame seeds
1 tablespoon cornstarch (optional)
2 tablespoons cold water (optional)
Cook noodles according to package directions; drain and set aside.
Heat a large sauté pan over medium-high heat and add beef, garlic and ginger.
Cook until meat browns. Drain off fat if using full-fat meat.
Make the sauce: Combine the rest of the ingredients (except for the onions, sesame seeds, cornstarch and water) and add to the meat, stirring to combine. Cook three to five minutes. If the sauce is too watery you can add the cornstarch mixed with water.
Add the sauce to the meat, mix, and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and cook until thickened (two minutes or so). Combine with noodles and garnish with green onions and sesame seeds.
