Flambéing the green beans in vodka gives them a uniquely festive flavor.
3 tablespoons oil, such as Gefen Canola Oil
1 to 1 and 1/2 pounds green beans, trimmed
1 shallot, finely minced
4 cubes Gefen Frozen Garlic
3/4 teaspoon kosher salt
1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
1/3 cup pine nuts or slivered almonds
2/3 cup Lvov Vodka
Heat oil over medium heat in a large, wide pot. Add green beans and shallot; sauté for two to three minutes, until shiny.
Add garlic, salt, pepper, and pine nuts or slivered almonds; sauté another one to two minutes longer until green beans turn a bright green color.
Remove pot from heat.
Add vodka.
With a long match, carefully ignite vodka. Flame will be contained in the pot and burn out on its own once it has consumed all the alcohol.
Serve warm or at room temperature.
