Diets Here’s a homemade sauce that everyone loves. It’s easy to make and very rewarding, with its delicious aroma, rich flavors and velvety texture.
1 and 1/2 tablespoons olive oil
1 onion, finely chopped
1 clove garlic, minced or 1 cube Gefen Frozen Garlic
14 ounces crushed tomatoes with no salt added, like Tuscanini
1 tablespoon Tuscanini Tomato Paste
1/2 teaspoon honey (optional)
1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
1/2 teaspoon dried basil
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon black pepper
In a medium pot, heat oil over low to medium heat. Add onions and sauté until golden, about 10 minutes. Add garlic and cook two more minutes, stirring.
Add crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, honey (if using), oregano, basil, salt and black pepper.
Stir until the sauce bubbles. Reduce heat and simmer for three minutes, stirring often. Taste and season as needed.
