Submitted by Chayale Turk I created this recipe for my sisters Bas Mitzva; I wanted to serve something child friendly, yet classier than pizza. These Knishes have all the components of pizza- dough, cheese and sauce- and they are sophisticated enough to serve at an adult party.
2 lb pizza dough
1 egg
Sesame seeds
1 cup shredded cheese
2 tablespoons cream cheese
1/2 cup marinara sauce
1/2 teaspoon oregano
1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
Mix all filling ingredients until smooth. Split dough into two parts.
Starting with one portion of dough, roll into a rectangle approximately 10 by 12 inches.
Cut rectangle into 12 squares. Place two teaspoons of filling into each square, then fold each into a triangle. Repeat with second portion of dough.
Place 24 knishes onto two baking trays. Optional: brush with beaten egg and sprinkle with sesame seeds.
Bake for 22 minutes at 350F.
