This is a great way to use leftover challah, but if you don’t have leftover challah- it’s worth buying a bakery challah to try it! Yield: 1 (9×13-inch) pan
1 large heimishe challah
5 eggs
1 cup Gefen Canola oil
1 cup sugar
2 tablespoons Gefen Vanilla Sugar
1 teaspoon cinnamon
4 Granny Smith green apples, peeled and finely sliced
sugar, for sprinkling
Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
Soak the challah in water and squeeze it out. Use only the soft part of the challah; discard the crust.
In a large bowl, mash the challah. Using an electric mixer, mix the mashed challah with the rest of the ingredients.
Place the mixture in a lined or greased 9×13-inch pan. Sprinkle some sugar on top.
Bake at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for one hour and 45 minutes.
Best served warm.
