The dipping sauce doubles as a marinade in this party favorite!
12 cloves garlic
oil, to cover garlic
12 slices beef fry or thin Montreal-style pastrami
12 Beleaves Medjool Dates, pitted
1/4 cup Telma Sweet Chili Sauce
1 tablespoon Gefen Mustard
1 tablespoon apricot jam, such as Tuscanini
2 tablespoons Gefen Maple Syrup
Blend the ingredients for the sauce with a hand blender or mix very well with a fork until smooth.
Preheat the oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit (190 degrees Celsius).
Place the garlic in a small ovenproof bowl and cover with oil. Cover and bake for 45 minutes, until cloves are soft but not falling apart. Remove from oven and cool.
Lay out the pieces of beef fry or pastrami. Brush with the sauce. Place one clove garlic into each date and roll the beef around the date. Stick a toothpick in to keep it together.
Preheat oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit (200 degrees Celsius).
Bake for 20 minutes. Serve warm with remaining dipping sauce.
