Diets Vanilla simple syrup is a sensational staple and can be used in baking, tea, coffee, lemonade, cocktails, confections, preserves, and as a sweetener and flavor enhancer for just about anything.
1 cup granulated sugar
1 cup water
1 vanilla bean
Add sugar and water to a saucepan, and heat gently until sugar has dissolved.
Scrape the seeds out of a vanilla bean, and add to the saucepan. Add the rest of the vanilla bean as well.
Remove from heat and let steep for 20–30 minutes. Strain through a fine sieve or cheesecloth. Let cool, bottle, and refrigerate for up to one month.
Yields 1 cup
