Directions

Prepare the Dough

  1. Dissolve yeast in water with honey in a bowl until bubbly.

  2. Stir in salt, oil, and two cups flour. Beat until smooth. Add wheat germ and remaining flour to make a soft dough.

  3. Knead for five minutes or until smooth and elastic. Let rise 45 minutes to one hour, until doubled.

Shape and Bake

  1. Punch down dough and divide into 16 equal portions. Roll into 16-inch long ropes. Shape into pretzel twists or other shapes.

  2. Transfer pretzels to greased baking sheets. Let rise 20 minutes. Brush glaze on top and sprinkle with desired topping.

  3. Bake at 400 degrees Fahrenheit for 20 minutes or until golden brown.
