Shushy heads to her local farmers market for her weekly Tuesday shop. Join us as she chats with farmers, picks what’s freshest, and builds her Shabbos menu straight from what’s in season. You’ll never look at a farmers market the same way again!
Search Farmers' Markets in your area by searching GrowNYC.org or your county’s website.
As always, be sure to check with your LOR regarding the proper way to check produce.

How do I know what farmer market is good, I live in sullivan county, upstate and I have so many by me, just now sure how to tell whats good
That’s a good question!
I usually start by googling farmers markets near me (or looking in local newspapers or town flyers)
https://sullivancatskillsfarmersmarkets.com/find-a-market/
This is one I found near Sullivan county. You’re looking to make sure the days and hours work for you (a lot of them are on Saturday). Then they will usually also list the vendors that come. You can see what you might be able to purchase there. Talk to your rabbi in advance if necessary to discuss if certain things need a hechsher (maple syrup, honey etc) before you go so you can be prepared and of course avoid vegetables and fruit they say cannot be cleaned. Hope that helps!
Anyone know where there’s a farmers market near Lakewood?
Lakewood is unique because you actually have a ton of farms nearby that have pick your own, roadside stands and other opportunities but here’s a list the county has as well!
