These charming apple-shaped challah rolls bring a playful, meaningful twist to your Rosh Hashanah table, beautifully symbolizing the hope for a sweet year ahead. Golden and soft, with a delicate hint of honey, each roll is shaped to resemble a crisp apple—complete with a “stem” and paper leaf for a delightful presentation.

Perfect as individual servings or thoughtful place cards, these challah rolls are fun to make and share with loved ones. Start with your favorite challah dough and follow these steps:

1. Take 75 grams of dough and shape each piece into a tight ball by tucking the edges under and pinching the bottom.

2. To create a subtle apple shape, gently flatten each ball, then pinch one end slightly to mimic the indentation at the bottom of an apple.

3. Insert a piece of Fiber One cereal, pretzel stick, or small cinnamon stick into the top center to act as the apple “stem.”
4. Place shaped rolls on a parchment-lined baking sheet and repeat with remaining dough.
5. Brush each roll with a mixture of egg and a touch of honey for a glossy, sweet finish.

6. Bake at 375 degrees Fahrenheit (190 degrees Celsius) for 20–25 minutes, or until golden brown.
7. Once cool, attach a small paper leaf using a dab of honey and serve!
