As Pesach approaches, kids see the house being cleaned from top to bottom. But what if you could turn all that Pesach prep into a hands-on, giggle-filled activity that helps kids feel part of the process?

Enter the Pesach Chametz Sensory Bin. A playful, interactive activity that lets kids experience their own version of bedikat chametz. It’s simple to set up, uses items you likely already have at home, and keeps little hands busy while building excitement for the holiday.

What You’ll Need

- A large plastic tub or bin

- Mini pom-poms

- Small toys from around the house (figurines, animals, blocks, etc.)

- Small bread figurines or anything that resembles chametz (even mini balls of tin foil)

- A bedikat chametz kit (feather, wooden spoon, flashlight, and bag)

How to Set It Up

Fill your tub with colorful pom-poms and scatter small toys throughout the bin. Then hide the little bread pieces inside. These will represent the “chametz” the kids are searching for.

Place the bedikat chametz kit next to the bin and explain that their mission is to search carefully and collect all the hidden chametz, just like we do before Pesach.

Let the Chametz Hunt Begin

Kids can use the feather and spoon to carefully “sweep” the chametz pieces into the bag. The pom-poms make the hunt feel like a treasure dig, while the tiny toys add surprise discoveries along the way.

Younger kids will love the sensory experience of digging and sorting, while also learning in a fun, hands-on way.

Make It Even More Exciting for Older Kids

For older children, turn the activity into a true bedikat chametz experience:

- Turn off the lights.

- Give them a flashlight (or LED candle).

- Let them search the bin in the dark for hidden chametz.
