Community info:

If you’re looking for a warm and welcoming community to visit, Houston is a great option. The locals love visitors, and are more than happy to help make your stay enjoyable in any way they can.

There are a number of kosher restaurants, kosher bakeries, and supermarkets with large kosher food sections for almost anything you might need.

There are local shuls with regular minyanim and prepared Shabbat food in the stores, making Shabbat accommodations a breeze.

With over 50 attractions to visit, we’d say Houston should be everyone’s next travel destination!

Restaurants:

We had the privilege of visiting Houston a few months ago and got to eat at Casa, Houston’s brand-new “New York-style” restaurant. We highly recommend a visit if you’re in the area. Here are more can’t-miss restaurants you can find in Houston.

Please note: We do not endorse the kashrut of any specific eatery on this list.

Shabbat:

If you plan on staying for Shabbat, there are multiple minyanim and shuls .

Harova Grocery is an all-kosher market that sells Israeli products and pre-checked produce. Their prepared food sections makes day trips and Shabbat that much easier to plan for, with foods like sandwiches, salads, dips and baked goods.

Casa is the community’s brand-new “New York-style” restaurant. Not only did we get to taste the delicious food first-hand, but we were also extremely impressed with their Shabbat menu. The menu includes all the foods you would need on Shabbat: mains, sides, kugels, soups, dips, and so much more.

Hotels and Airbnb’s:

When visiting Houston, “the place to stay” is in the Galleria area. There aren’t too many Airbnb options, but they do have a number of beautiful hotels to wind down in at the end of the day.
