Diets This apple cherry crumble came in first place in my informal poll. It seems like this is one side dish that’s here to stay. Well, who could resist? It’s the perfect marriage of sweetness with an undertone of tartness. Simply delicious.
6 tablespoons margarine or Heaven & Earth Coconut Oil, melted or at room temperature
1 and 1/8 cups Glicks Flour
1/2 cup oats
6 tablespoons packed brown sugar
1/8 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon cinnamon, optional
8 ounces Gefen Cherry Pie Filling or 1 cup fresh pitted cherries or frozen cherries, defrosted (my favorite is to use frozen berries—even berry mix if that is what I can find)
4 apples, peeled and diced or thinly sliced
Preheat the oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit.
Mix margarine with flour, oats, brown sugar, salt and cinnamon.
Press two thirds of the mixture into a nine-inch pan. Pack it firmly.
Mix cherries and apples and spread over the crust.
Sprinkle the reserved crumb mixture as topping.
Bake for 40 to 45 minutes.
