Learn how to make Rice Pilaf, a classic and delicious rice dish that’s dressy without requiring more than minimal effort to prepare.
2 tablespoons margarine (use soy-free, if needed)
1 onion
1 and 1/2 cups uncooked rice
1/4 cup slivered almonds
3 cups boiling water or soup stock, such as Manischewitz Vegetable Broth
1 tablespoon chopped parsley stems
1/4 teaspoon Gefen Garlic Powder
1/4 teaspoon pepper
In large frying pan, melt margarine.
Add onion, rice and almonds, stirring occasionally until onions are soft and rice begins to brown.
Pour hot water over rice, add remaining ingredients.
Cook, covered, over low heat, until all liquid is absorbed.
Place into greased baking dish and bake, covered, at 350 degrees for 45 minutes.
