Every family has their favorite recipe and we do too….Bobby Unger – American born over 100 years ago – made these hamantashen with love well into her 90’s. We wanted to share this delicious recipe with your readers – no secret ingredient – from dough to filling – it’s a real winner!!
2 eggs
4 cups flour
3/4 cup oil
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup orange juice
2 tsp baking powder
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 lb prunes
3/4 cup chopped walnuts
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 lemon with grated rind
1/2 cup white raisins
1/4 cup honey
Combine all ingredients to form the dough.
In a saucepan, cook up the prunes with 1/4 cup water until the water gets absorbed. Add the rest of the filling ingredients.
Roll out the dough and cut circles with the rim of a glass. Drop about a tsp of filling and pinch corners to close.
Bake in a 350F preheated oven for 15 minutes.
