Caramel apples sound good, especially in the fall. Try this cookie bar. You’re sure to make it again and again and again.
1 cup butter, softened
1 cup brown sugar
2 cups flour
2 cups quick-cooking oats
1 teaspoon Gefen Baking Soda
2 cups diced Granny Smith apples
1 cup chopped walnuts or pecans
1 small jar caramel topping
Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
Melt butter and sugar, and add flour, oats, and baking soda. Mix together until dough crumbles.
Press half of dough mixture into a small jelly roll pan.
Bake for seven to 10 minutes. Remove from oven.
Arrange apples and nuts on top of crust. Pour caramel sauce over top and sprinkle remaining dough mixture over entire caramel sauce.
Bake 10–12 minutes longer until dough is slightly golden. Remove and cool completely. Cut into squares.
