Diets This cheese sauce is good on anything from fries to macaroni to….a perfect burger! Its smooth creaminess is a great complement to the patty. I threw in some spring mix for a little freshness, but feel free to use any sort of greens that you like. Click here for more incredible ways to cook veggie burgers.
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 onion, cut into slices
2 tablespoons butter
2 tablespoons flour
1 cup milk (preferably whole milk)
2 cups grated cheddar cheese
Spring mix
everything bagel or pretzel bun
Bake burgers according to package directions.
While the burger is baking, heat the olive oil up in a skillet and sauté onions on low heat until caramelized and golden.
Next, make the cheese sauce. Melt the butter in a pot and stir in the flour. Mix well until large clumps form. Pour in the milk and cook over medium heat until it begins to thicken. Whisk in the cheese. Keep warm and whisk before serving.
Assemble the burgers with spring mix, the patty, cheese sauce, and top it off with the caramelized onions.
