I found this easy-to-prepare dish to be a scrumptious choice for Chanukah party fare! The combination of ingredients offers flavorful and satisfying, cheesy mouthfuls of potato heaven! Warning: hard to resist a second portion!!
oil, for sautéing
2 large onions, diced
3 large stalks celery, scrubbed and diced
8 ounces button mushrooms, cleaned and diced
3 tablespoons flour
2 and 1/2 cups water
1 and 1/2 tablespoons onion soup mix
salt, to taste
30 ounces frozen tater tots
1 and 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese, divided
Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
In a large frying pan, saute onions until golden. Add celery and mushrooms and continue to saute until vegetables are softened.
Stir in flour and mix until combined. Add water, onion soup mix and salt, to taste, stirring until mixture thickens.
Sprinkle in half a cup of shredded mozzarella cheese and continue to stir until cheese is melted. Remove from heat.
Place frozen tater tots in a 9×13-inch baking pan. Pour vegetable sauce over tater tots and sprinkle remaining shredded cheese over all.
Bake uncovered, for 35-40 minutes, or until mixture bubbles. Remove from oven and serve immediately.

Do the tater tots remain crispy??
if you’re eating them fresh, right when they come out of the oven, they should be, yes.
So long? Why should this take more than an hour?
Only cooking for 35 minutes to an hour. The tater tots are frozen.
The total time says 3 hours.
This recipe is great! It’s easy to prep and slide into the oven. I made it with fake meat in place of the veggies and it came out amazing!
