Diets Chicago-style pizza is prepared in a tall pan to give the pizza its signature high sides. Use store-bought pizza dough if you’re short on time or use the recipe below if you can make it a couple hours in advance. Start with a layer of cheese, followed by as much sauce as your heart can handle. Add your favorite toppings and finish it off with more cheese. Sprinkle some Parmesan on top and enjoy! Serve with fries that can either be homemade or purchased at your local grocer.
1 and 1/3 cups warm water
2 and 1/4 teaspoons instant yeast
2 teaspoons sugar
1 and 1/2 teaspoons salt
1/4 cup butter, melted
1/4 cup olive oil
1/2 cup cornmeal, plus additional for sprinkling
3 and 3/4 cups all-purpose flour, plus additional for sprinkling
1 cup marinara sauce
1 (8-ounce) bag shredded pizza cheese, or more as needed
grated Parmesan cheese, as needed
Preheat oven to 425 degrees Fahrenheit.
In a large bowl, combine warm water and yeast. Add sugar and mix well. Add salt, butter, oil, cornmeal, and flour. Knead into a dough by hand.
Coat a large bowl with cooking spray. Place dough in bowl and cover with a towel. Let rise for one to two hours or until doubled in size.
Coat a springform pan with cooking spray and sprinkle with cornmeal.
Use a rolling pin to roll dough out to approximately 1/4-inch thickness. Press dough into bottom of springform pan and up the sides, and trim excess.
Sprinkle cheese over bottom of crust, then pour marinara sauce on top. Add pizza toppings and additional shredded cheese, if desired.
Bake for 35 minutes.
Sprinkle with grated Parmesan cheese immediately before serving.
