Diets This crispy fried cabbage recipe is an absolute crowd pleaser. It’s a simple yet absolutely decadent side dish.
12 checked savoy or green cabbage leaves (don’t use the tough outer leaves)
1/2 teaspoon flaky sea salt
1/2 teaspoon light brown sugar
cayenne pepper
oil, such as Gefen Canola Oil, for deep frying
Using a sharp knife, shred the cabbage leaves finely.
Mix together the salt, sugar and a pinch of both cayenne and cinnamon in a small bowl.
Fill one-third of a pan with oil and heat until hot. Fry small batches of the cabbage (be careful, as it may spit when putting into the oil) until really crisp, then drain on paper towels.
Place cabbage into a bowl and season with the spice mixture. Serve immediately.
