This fruit smoothie is absolutely delicious and gives you energy for hours! It’s a great combination of flavors, and it’s filling enough as a meal replacement.
The smoothie boasts an amazing variety of vitamins and minerals, fiber, antioxidants, healthy fat and healthy protein, and is very hydrating too! It contains raw fruits that are superfoods that keep the body healthy and prevent disease. This recipe was actually created during my recent pregnancy — it was my daily breakfast and really helped me get through the days.
I wish I would take the time to make this smoothie every morning, but I do make sure to make one when I am not feeling well or have an extra busy day ahead of me!
Yields: 1 16-ounce smoothie

1 plastic cup (7 ounces) orange juice

What can I add to this that will increase the fiber?
This smoothie already has 18 grams of fiber, which is one of the reasons that it is so filling and energizing!
To increase the fiber in this smoothie, increase the chia seeds to 2 tablespoons.
Smoothie recipe:
Total fiber: 18 g
Soluble fiber: 9 g
Insoluble fiber: 9 g
When updating the recipe to 2 tablespoons of chia seeds:
Total fiber: 24 g
Soluble fiber: 13 g
Insoluble fiber: 11 g
Can I do this with peanut butter and anything to substitute the banana with?
I’ve never tried peanut butter, but I would imagine it would change the flavor subtly. Why dont you try it with only 1 tablespoon of peanut butter and see how you like it?
The banana makes the smoothie more filling and creamier. This smoothie does not have a banana taste. Some people in my family do not like bananas but really enjoy this smoothie!
If you want something to replace the banana, you can try 1/4 of a ripe avocado. It will give you that creaminess and a lot of good nutrition. Make sure to blend it really well until there are no visible pieces. Or, you can skip the banana if you want to. We’ve made it without it. The smoothie is still delicious, though the texture is a bit more slushy.
Please let us know how it comes out. Enjoy 🙂
Here is a great tip on bananas for those that dont like a strong banana taste:
Put the bananas in the fridge as soon as they are just ripe. It slows down the ripening process. They will stay yellow in the fridge for a few days before turning over-ripe.
