French Scalloped Potatoes

Ingredients

French Scalloped Potatoes

  • 8 medium potatoes, thinly sliced

  • 2 small onions, thinly sliced

  • 1 and 1/2 teaspoons salt

Sauce

  • 4 tablespoons flour

  • 4 tablespoons margarine

  • 2 cups milk

  • 8 ounces grated cheese

  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper

Directions

Prepare the Potatoes

1.

Mix sliced potatoes & onions with salt and arrange in casserole dish. Set aside.  

Sauce

1.

Melt margarine and mix with flour until smooth. Add milk and stir on low flame until thickened.

2.

Remove from heat and add cheese, salt & pepper.

3.

Pour sauce over potatoes and bake at 475°F until sauce starts to bubble.

4.

Reduce heat to 350°F and bake for 1 hour.
