Diets This light and airy cake is the perfect ending to a full meal.
4 eggs, separated
3/4 cup sugar
1 tablespoon canola oil
1 tablespoon orange juice
1 teaspoon Gefen Vanilla Extract
3/4 cup flour
1/4 teaspoon Gefen Baking Powder
Bavarian Cream (see note)
assortment of fruit, sliced strawberries or kiwis, blueberries, mandarin wedges
piping gel or apricot jam
Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Grease and flour a flan pan.
Beat egg whites with the sugar until soft peaks form. Add the rest of the ingredients and mix gently until combined.
Pour batter into prepared pan and bake for 15 to 20 minutes. Let cake cool in pan for 10 minutes and invert onto serving plate.
Fill the cavity of the cake with Bavarian cream (custard).
Arrange fruit in concentric circles or rows, covering the filling. Heat piping gel or apricot jam in the microwave and brush over fruit.
