Ingredients

Gnocchi

  • 1/2 teaspoon sugar

  • salt and pepper to taste

  • 2 pounds ground beef

Directions

Prepare the Gnocchi with Meat Sauce

1.

In a food processor, puree onion and garlic.

2.

Add onion and garlic to a pot with 1 tablespoon of olive oil.

3.

Sauté until fragrant, stirring occasionally.

4.

Add meat. Using a potato masher or a wooden spoon, break the meat up until there are no remaining chunks and stir until meat is completely browned.

5.

Once meat is cooked through, add in tomato sauce, tomato paste, and sugar. Stir to incorporate and bring to a boil.

6.

Once sauce reaches a boil, add salt and pepper to taste, and stir to incorporate. Add gnocchi and let cook for at least 3 minutes. The longer it cooks, the more flavor is absorbed from the sauce.

7.

Serve and enjoy!

frozen cubes Can I just use the frozen garlic and onion cubes instead of pureeing the real thing? If so, how many cubes of onion would I use?

Cook gnocchi first? Do I have to cook the packaged bartenura gnocchi first before I add it to my recipe?

Hi Rivky,
According to the recipe, you don’t. Just follow the steps and the gnocchi will cook.

Freeze? Would this freeze well? Also can you use ground turkey or chicken instead of the ground meat?

Tasty Nice flavor and easy to make!! My gnocchi didn’t cook quite right, but that could just be the brand I used, not due to the recipe.
