Dulce De Leche is a rich and decadent cream that surprisingly uses only one ingredient and a bit of patience to make. The results are definitely worth the effort. With its deep flavor and silky texture, it’s perfect for drizzling over desserts, stirring into coffee, or enjoying by the spoonful.
Remove the label from the can and add the can to a large pot. Fill the pot with water and fully submerge the can. Be sure that there is at least two inches covering the can at all time.
Bring the water to a boil. Once the water is boiling, lower the heat to a low simmer and boil the can for three hours. Check the pot every so often and add more water when necessary.
After three hours, turn off the heat and allow the can to cool in the water.
Once the water is room temperature, open the can to find perfect dulce de leche!

How do I store this? In the fridge? And how long does it last?
I store mine in the fridge. It should last between 2-4 months. Just make sure to keep it in an airtight container or glass jar, and that when you use it you make sure to only use a clean spoon inside.
Be very careful to let it cool completely! Many decades ago when I was a newlywed I tried to make this. I did not let the can cool when I opened it and wound up in emergency with burns to my face. The hot contents shpritzed out as soon as I punctured the can.
